1. Have a Purpose: You must have a vision or a mission or a passion. As a leader, you must have the ability to inspire others and motivate them to carry out the company’s vision. This is done by helping employees feel purposeful in their work.

2. A leader needs a Plan: For success to be guaranteed in leadership, you need to know where you are leading your team and how to get there. It can be a strategy or a roadmap or a set of goals and objectives. A destination is not enough – putting one foot in front of the other is the key to achieving visionary goals.

3. A leader needs People: Everyone needs people; people who are committed to the vision and plan. A successful leader must have people who are motivated to be part of a movement or community or group. Leaders need to be able to motivate those people to walk the talk.

4. A leader needs Power: Power can come from anything. People, money or ideas; however, the engine needs fuel to move forward. Leaders need to be able to marshal these resources in support of their cause.
